Biography

François Hamelin is a Canadian short track speed skater and producer. He was born on December 18, 1986 in Lévis, Quebec and raised in Sainte-Julie, Quebec. His parents are Yves Hamelin and Manon Goulet. He studied accounting at the University of Quebec in Montreal. François began speed skating at just five years old. In 2008, he was named Speed Skating Canada's Rising Star for short track, at his world championship debut. Making his Olympic debut in 2010 (Vancouver), François earned a gold medal in the 5000m relay. In 2018, he co-founded a sports marketing agency (Balboa Sport). Resides in Montréal, Quebec with his wife Mylène Nadeau (a lawyer) and their two children.
