Biography

Born in Indiana, Brent Whiting was raised in Morris Plains, NJ where he developed artistic skills in various mediums. From pencil, pen and ink, and acrylic to a love of movie-making, photography, and producing music, Brent had a knack of turning nothing into something. It wasn't until his junior year of high school when his best friend, Bill and himself decided to take a stab at their favorite genre at the time, horror. For a school assignment, they produced a local film called "Morris Plains Massacre" which sampled elements from every horror movie at the time and shot with a VHS camcorder and edited on two VCRs. They even named their production company, "No Budget Productions" to match the quality of the film. It wasn't until college when Brent (who attended Rider University) and Bill (University of Delaware) showed their previous work to their peers and it became a local hit. This prompted Brent to reach out to Bill during their winter break to create "The Morris Plains Massacre Part 2". It was this version, shot on a hardly better VHS-C that made Brent fall in love with film making. Unfortunately but fortunately, as a Gemini, the other interests were calling and Brent strengthened his hip-hop skills. Creating rap music under the moniker, The Zodiac, Brent went on to create his first personal album, "Psyns Against Zod". It didn't take long for others to follow and in 1999, he banded with friends to create Black InQ; a group of four who promoted each other's talents on and offline. Brent (as The Zodiac) released his fourth CD, Sixense online and through the Black InQ site was shocked at people purchasing it. Since then, he's continuously released music between 2 and 4 years up until this moment. Many are sold on The Zodiac site, iTunes, and other outlets. Being a web and graphic designer also helped in Brent's skills as he began creating artwork for clients and their films and albums. Many musicians and some movie makers sought Brent's design work and this only dug deeper in his interest in film. But he still focused on graphic design and other genres to pay the bills. Then, after moving to Las Vegas and then Phoenix, he rediscovered his love of photography. Seeing through the lens an capturing images became a labor of love and Brent added that to his portfolio. It wasn't until 2016 after creating the podcast, The Zod & Drea Podcast with his girlfriend, did Brent realize there should be a video element to their weekly show. Using his Nikon and purchasing a shotgun mic, lavaliers, 7" monitor, and separate audio source, Brent began recording interviews and their popularity soared! It wasn't until a chance meeting with a movie producer who became a client of Brent's when he was invited to North Carolina for a movie set to take photos on independent film, But Deliver Us From Evil. Needing a reporter to ask a question in a scene, they asked Brent to fill in and deliver. Being seen and heard in a production with some established actors was a thrill as well as being able to fill a bucket list item to have a legitimate IMDb page. Mission accomplished!
