Yuyun Yuningsih Nollen is a researcher and writer in the area of classic cinema and television history. She is married to historian, author, musician and filmmaker Scott Allen Nollen, and has two sons, Arizkia and Julio ("The Little Monster"). Her favorite film actors are Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, Chester Morris, Antonio Banderas, Anjelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway. Her number-one television performer is Mike "Touch" Connors.
Her first book with Scott, "Chester Morris: His Life and Career" (McFarland, 2019) will be followed by "Mike Connors: The Life, Film and Television Career of Krekor Ohanion," "The Eastern Films of Boris Karloff" (both for McFarland) and "Sons of Charlie Chan: Keye Luke, Sen Yung, Benson Fong" (for Midnight Marquee).
In 2019, she also began working with her husband on a short film tribute to director Akira Kurosawa, "Five Indo Samurai," in which she plays the leader of the group, portrayed in the original "Seven Samurai" (1954) by Takashi Shimura.
