Girish Panicker Mattada is an Indian film director and producer. Having worked as an assistant director to director Vinayan in South Indian movies like Daivathinte Makan, Independence, Karumadikuttan and Kasi, he went on to pursue his higher education and earned himself a Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Hotel Management.
To further his training in the creative field, Girish Mattada did courses in filmmaking from SAE Institute in New Zealand and New York Film Academy in LA, California. He also set up a production company - Kangaroo Broadcasting in Sydney, Australia, where he continues to live and work. He has several short films, ad films and an award-winning advertisement on his resume. His short film Matariki made it to the Manakau Film Festival in New Zealand and was well received.
In 2018, Girish made his re-entry into the Malayalam Film industry with his directorial debut, The Gambinos, a story of a crime family. The film is expected to hit the big screen by the end of 2018.
