Scott Carpenter

Scott graduated from North Carolina State and married his wife Catherine in 1992. They have two daughters, Hannah and Maggie. Scott has been the youth minister at First Baptist since graduating from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1995. Scott believes the key to the FBC youth ministry is God's incredible work through volunteers who are willing to invest in the lives of teens. The high school ministry is called 2:42, after Acts 2:42, where believers devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, and prayer. Students at First Baptist engage with worship at the 9:30 service on Sunday mornings and have Bible Fellowship Groups (BFG) on Sunday mornings at 11:00. During the week, First Baptist students participate in Bible study on Wednesday nights at 6:15. First Baptist encourages people of all ages to take part in missions so we also provide local, national, and international opportunities for high school students to serve. The Youth Ministry at First Baptist Church partners with parents to worship God, reach people for Christ, obey God's word, love one another, and serve others.
