Biography

Andrei Negoita Zagorodnai, director of feature film 7 Words, is a Romanian emigrant living in Santa Rosa, California. He was born in Iasi, Romania. He attended school in Barlad, Romania and also received music education at the Music School in the same city. In 1987, he got his medical degree from the 'Grigore T. Popa' University of Iasi. He worked as a resident physician from 1987 to 1990, and as a general practitioner in Barlad, from 1990 to 1993. Later on, from 1997 to 2005, he was a physician-scientist in interventional cardiology with several institutions in the United States: Cardiology Research Foundation George Washington Hospital (Washington DC), Lenox Hill Hospital (Manhattan, New York) and Columbia University (Manhattan, New York). From 2000 he was a full-time student of the School of Visual Arts SVA (Manhattan, New York), majoring in Filmmaking (Directing) and Cinematography, and graduating in 2005. He was the director of two graduation films, Wrong Track and The Last Don. His short films were selected in film festivals, in the student film category: Die Hard Kitch, Die Hard Kitch Rapsody, Vision, Victoria's Secret and Tight Rope Dancer. In 2005, Wrong Track was programmed by two Romanian film festivals: Anonimul International Independent Film Festival, Sfantu Gheorghe, Danube Delta, and DaKINO International Film Festival, Bucharest. His feature film 7 Words was screened in more than 20 cities in Romania, as well as abroad in Brussels, Chisinau, Guadalajara, London, Vienna.
