Born and brought up in the North East, Martin initially trained as an Actor at Artts International, York. After working professionally for five years in both in TV and Theatre, he set up his own business in Theatre Promotions. He is now based in London, where he was the former Theatre Manager at BAC (Battersea Arts Centre) and now works as a British Sign Language Interpreter.
Martin has been signing since 1999 and holds a UCLAN/SLI Post Graduate Diploma in BSL/English Interpreting. He is a Registered Sign Language Interpreter, (RSLI), with the NRCPD, National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People, (Reg No. 1003564) and is a full member of the Association of Sign Language Interpreters (MASLI); for which he upheld the position of Regional Chair for London and South East, 2009 - 2011 and formally a Director 2011 - 2014. Martin is also a member of the National Union of British Sign Language Interpreters, (NUBSLI), and of Equity, the UK trade union for professional performers and creative practitioners.
Along side his work as a Community Interpreter, Martin's work also specialises in interpreting and translating for Theatre, TV and Film.
