The Monsters of Schlock are a two-man comedy sideshow act from Canada, comprised of Burnaby Q. Orbax and Sweet Pepper Klopek. Their shows combine shocking daredevil stunts with slapstick comedy, magic, and a touch of science (The Great Orbax is also a physics professor). The duo has set 25 Guinness World Records (as of 2019) and has entertained audiences around the world.
Orbax first met Pepper when Pepper was the frontman of the punk band The Legendary Klopeks. The Klopeks joined Orbax's Circo Loco entertainment show and in 2006 Pepper joined the Great Orbax Sideshow ensemble. Pepper brought over a decade of experience as a performer to the sideshow troupe, and soon afterward Orbax and Pepper teamed up to form The Monsters of Schlock.
Renowned in Canada for their wild and crazy circus sideshow extravaganza, the Monsters are known for carny tricks and pain-resistance stunts like the human blockhead (hammering nails up one's nose), the human pincushion (sticking needles through one's flesh), stapling items to one's skin, snapping a mousetrap on one's tongue, lying on a bed of nails, breaking cinder blocks over one's body, and lifting or pulling weight from hooks piercing one's flesh. More elaborate stunts include tattooing on a roller coaster and setting the world record for motorcycles driven over a man lying on a bed of nails.
The shocking and death-defying stunts are wrapped within the duo's signature comedic performance style, as the goal is always to entertain. Orbax uses his scientific knowledge to his advantage when designing stunts and props for the act.
The Monsters also perform kid-friendly shows as lab coat-wearing science entertainers (publicized as "Orbax and Pepper Do Science!"), with awe-inspiring science experiments and demonstrations designed to engage young minds in STEM learning.
In 2018, Orbax and Pepper were featured in the Guinness World Records kids' book, "Science & Stuff", challenging readers to break world records with a selection of at-home science projects.
