Kim King

Biography

Kim King is a Jamaican born actress and former attorney. Her depth of empathy for the human experience, particularly people of color, is the guiding force behind her work. Telling stories often overlooked and dismissed feeds her curiosity as an actor. She is in constant search of a deeper understanding of how life unfolds for different people living the same human experience. She plays the strong, force to be reckoned with lawyer, boss or mother. Kim wrote and played the lead role in The Birthday, a short film about a mother desperate for the love and affection of her husband and daughter. The film earned Kim a Best Actress award and an award for Best Short Film at the NYC Indie Film Awards and premiered at the Chelsea Film Festival. Kim's daily mantra is one learned from Stella Adler: "growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous." Kim enjoys preparing Caribbean meals for family and friends, as well as soaking up the energy and beauty of Central Park.
