Biography

Kurt Kanazawa is an actor, director, and ex-opera singer. A Juilliard School, Columbia University, and Harvard-Westlake graduate, Kurt plays the title role in the Tribeca Film Festival world premiere of the Japanese Interment V/R Film "A Life in Pieces: The Diary and Letters of Stanley Hayami" (Immersive Category, 2021), directed by Nonny de la Peña. Kurt's first acting gig was on the RAI 1 soap opera "Provaci ancora Prof!" while living in Milan. He has also appeared on "Grey's Anatomy." Formerly, the Los Angeles native was an award-winning opera singer featured in The New York Times and Time Magazine. Kurt has also worked as a narrator or director on 50+ audiobook titles, including LATW's award-winning "Sister's Matsumoto," by Philip Kan-Gotanda, directed by Tim Dang. Notably, Kurt's grandmother, Shimeji Ryusaki Kanazawa, is known as "The Florence Nightingale of Hawaii" for her efforts during WWII, for which she was awarded the American Red Cross, national committee appointments by Presidents Reagan, Carter, and Clinton, respectively, and an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Hawai'i - Manoa.
