Dhar Vaid Prakash

Born on 1st. May, 1953, at Srinagar, the capital city of the paradise looking beautiful Valley of Kashmir, and after having completed my basic education in the serene surroundings of the valley, I underwent a professional course in the field of film-making. Having graduating as a film professional in 1974 and after having spent some years in the industry as a free lancer, I joined Doordarshan India in 1980. I served the organization till my superannuation in April, 2012, that is for more than 32 Years. Thereafter in May, 2012, I started my own production house and since then having been doing free lance productions. In more than 43 years of my being in the field of film-making, I have so far Produced & Directed more than 180 Documentaries, 6 Tele-Serials, and 12 Tele-Films, about 30 Short-films and more than 25 Tele-Features, besides a huge range of other routine TV Programmes. My latest docu-drama based travelogue series "DESERT CALLING", highlighting the enormous treasure of Historical Monuments, Palaces, Forts and places of Tourist Interest, Folk Music & Folk Art, Lifestyle and centuries old rich Cultural Heritage of Rajasthan, was simultaneously telecast from 3 different Channels of Doordarshan namely, DD-National, DD-India & DD-Rajasthan. In last two and a half years I have directed one full length film titled "HUMEIN BHI JEENE DO", for Doordarshan Kendra Jaipur, a docudrama based tele-feature "AMOLAK RUKHALOO" based on the life & times of the great warrior of Marwar - "Veer Durgadass Rathore" for Mehrangarh Museum Trust, Jodhpur and a number of documentaries for the Rajasthan Forestry and Biodiversity Project, Phase-2(RFBP-2), a Govt. of Rajasthan project. All these documentaries have been designed & produced to create awareness about the rich biodiversity and forests of Rajasthan and the need for its protection & preservation. In addition to these films I am presently also working on quite a few other projects like that. I have also written a book on & about the film techniques and terminology, titled as "THE ART OF MOVIE MAKING", which was published in April 2012 and is now available in the market.
