Rafi Pristoop was born and grew up in Baltimore, MD. He attended Beth Tfiloh Day school, and Habonim Dror Camp Moshava. He started making videos with his siblings and friends beginning at age 12. In college, at Brown University, he had a TV show on Brown TV, the college TV station, entitled the Stoop and Heinz show. Rafi then did a year of service in Avodah the Jewish Service corps from 2000-2001. He was Rosh Mosh 2001, and then moved to Tel Aviv, to attend the Sackler School of Medicine where he earned his MD. For graduation, Rafi helped put together a graduation video, which featured a recreation of Michael Jackson's Thriller in the anatomy lab. After medical school, Rafi lived in Bronx, New York from 2005-2008, where he did his residency in Internal Medicine. He has come out with several medical related videos since that time. From 2008-2012, Rafi worked as an attending hospitalist at King's County Hospital Center, and was on the faculty of SUNY Downstate school of medicine. Then he moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where he was a hospitalist in the University of Michigan Health System. Since 2016, Rafi lives with his wife and 3 children, in Washington, DC and works as an academic hospitalist in the residency program at Medstar Washington Hospital Center.
