Biography

Born in the 88th year of the 20th century, Matthew Seely realized at a young age that the cartoons he adored on television were created by actual people. From that point on, he's devoted his life to telling stories in a multitude of media, including animation, comics, and illustration. Seely is illustrating the graphic novel Morbid Obesity: Murder at Camp Bloom published by Oni Press, and has worked with ShadowMachine as Segment Director to fully produce the animation for the segment Dancing in the Dark for season two of MTV's Greatest Party Story Ever. Seely has created multiple independent animated shorts, including These Pancakes are Tiny, which has been screened at the Northwest Film and Video Festival and the Salem Film Fest. He's also written, drawn and self-published comics including Robo-Boy vs. Boybot and Oswald the Orange. While a great deal of his free time still consists of watching cartoons and reading comics, Seely also enjoys playing music, listening to podcasts, and eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches. He's currently living in Portland, Oregon where he received a BFA in Illustration from the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
