Gabriel Guarany

Brazilian filmmaker, editor, and composer, Gabriel Guarany, is an accomplished artist, whose passion began listening to his Father's singing. Born in 1990, Gabriel followed in his family's footsteps as an aspiring artist. Both his Grandfather, and Father were musicians and composers filling their homes with music and creativity. Gabriel's father changed his career to support his family and has been unfailing in his encouragement of his son to pursue the arts. Gabriel's Mother, a psychologist, guided him through museums and festivals. She taught Gabriel the true beauty of art and supports him in every endeavor and he credits finishing his bachelor's degree to her support. His sister, a fashion designer, also encouraged Gabriel in his creativity. She always told him to follow his passions and bought him his very first professional camera equipment. As a child, Gabriel always had a connection with music. He was gifted his first keyboard at 4 years old and vividly remembers composing music for the films he played in his imagination. Though only a toddler, he knew he wanted to make music for films. He took formal piano lessons from the age of 12 to 15 and has been playing ever since. During Gabriel's high school years he studied computer science, and later went to school for web development. His artistic skill creating websites and online portfolios for fellow artists, paled in comparison to his natural talent for editing and composing music using the newest technology to bring his music to life and the big screen. As Gabriel's life became more entrenched with technology he yearned for something deeper. His need for a deep connection led him to a yogic meditation ashram in the United States outside of San Diego, California. There he followed the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda and the Self-Realization Fellowship. The small town of Escondido held a spiritual presence that captivated Gabriel for 10 months. The time he spent sparked a deep reverence for life and spirit that has since fueled Gabriel's muse, encouraging him everyday to live in his truest most creative self. After winning first place in a short film contest in Brazil in 2012, he knew filmmaking would be his career. Gabriel returned to Brazil, where he completed a Bachelor's degree in Film. He found his stride and amid st video-editing school and earning his Bachelor's degree, began working with famed worldwide fine art photographer Claudio Edinger. What Gabriel learned, and continues to learn from his experiences working on real projects in the real world is that art is everywhere, waiting to be captured by film, photo, or song. Today Gabriel continues living his passion as a freelance movie maker working in many areas of film production including; direction, musical score, cinematography, conception, and editing.
