Moreblessing Maturure

Biography

Moreblessing Maturure is a Zimbabwean/Australian inter-disciplinary artist, TEDx Speaker and the Creative Director of FOLK Magazine. Maturure migrated from Zimbabwe to Sydney, Australia at eight years old with an understanding she'd grow up to "not work in an office". Everything else, flowed from that. Starting as a performer, she appeared across Sydney stages and Australian screens before adding writer/creator strings to her bow initially through engagements with Playwriting Australia (PWA), ATYP, and Sydney Theatre Company (STC). While maintaining a love for the stage, she began writing for screen as a creator with a diverse slate including the award winning digital series AFRO SISTAHS (creator/writer/performer) and a diverse development slate: feature anthology: MASC (Easy Tiger; Revlover Productions), the play: NO PINK DICKS (Darlinghurst Theatre Company; PWA), audio drama MILK & HONEY & LEMONS (Australia Council). In 2019, she was a participant in Screen Australia's Developing the Developer workshop and was named Girlfriend Magazine's 25 women under 25 pushing for change. Parallel to her creative practice, she works with companies as a story developer, outreach producer and cultural advisor to support her advocacy work within the arts for accurate and diverse representation. She's an Actors Equity member and Co-Chair of the Equity's Diversity Committee.
