Marco Gentile

Biography

Italian filmmaker Marco Gentile was dividing his time between his native Milan, London and Paris before moving to Los Angeles in 2015 when he signed with RSA Films. Film captivated Gentile at the age of 7, when his mother took him to see Federico Fellini's And the Ship Sails On. After earning a Humanities degree from the University of Milan, he wrote music video treatments for friends that caught the attention of Filmmaster, the largest production house in Italy. He began directing videos two years later. That same year he began studying film at Emerson College in Boston and later graduated with a Masters in Film and Media Arts. He returned to Milan after graduation to shoot music videos for major Italian artists Tiziano Ferro, Negramaro and Subsonica, as well as Coolio's Gangsta Walkin featuring Snoop Dogg. The spot Gentile credits as his breakthrough is "Life n' Roll" for Rolling Stone magazine in Italy, which laments the paltry and vanishing debauchery of rock stars (the magazine's bread and butter) with the headline-grabbing excesses of Italian politicians. The spot won a 2010 Cannes Silver Lion. A visual storyteller infusing European-style satirical edge with American production values, Gentile has been tapped to direct spots for a host of European and American clients, including Mercedes, BMW, Sky Atlantic, Adidas, Humanis, Orange, Karlovacko Beer, Nissan, Durex, Santander, Yamaha and Pepsi.
