Jim Burke (James) is Irish by nationality having been born in Ballyfermot, Dublin, Ireland. He began writing stories when he was about fourteen years of age. Prior to this he enjoyed making up stories for friends in school. He wrote short stories and poems but mainly short stories. Some of his stories have been published in the Irelands Own weekly magazine as well as other publications. He once wrote a poem called, Goodbye Kenure which was later made into a song and entered in the Listowel Writers week song competition in Ireland. The poem was about an old stately mansion which had fallen into disrepair and was later demolished in the late 70's. The film, The Other side of the lake is based on a short story by Jim called, Lost Love. The story was originally set in Kerry in Ireland but when a chance came for it to be made into a film, the setting was switched to Dorset in the UK. The story fitted in well with the history of Dorset. For a very short time in the 80's Jim was a member of the Little theatre in the hills drama group in Tallaght, in County Dublin Ireland.
