Canadian-American-Taiwanese writer/director Dashiell King is best known for his works Time Lapse (2012), The Divine Horror (2015) and other various shorts. He is also an artist, graphic designer, photographer and writer.
Born to Taiwanese actor Chin-Ding, Dashiell was influenced by his father's dream of becoming a director that never happened. Growing up in Canada, he and his friend founded a small newspaper company that started his creative journey into film. After moving to Taiwan with his family in 2006, he was exposed to the political and cultural aspect of Taiwan that extended a further stretch as a filmmaker. Attending the Fu-Hsin Trade and Arts Vocational High School in 2010, he studied Media and graphic design that eventually lead him back to making films and entering numerous contests. He's an award-winning director for his short films in Taiwan winning third in the Trend Micro Short Film Campaign and nominated for the Taipei transportation film festival in 2014. His senior film in Fu-Hsin Trade and Arts Vocational High School was nominated for excellence at Yodex (Young designer's exhibition,2013). After moving to the Bay Area in 2014, he earned his A.A degree in liberal arts and screenwriting. He continues his filmmaking and studies at the University of Southern California as a production major.
