Derek Hakkim

Derek was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and kick-started his career in film when he spent a year backpacking across the globe with a few GoPro cameras and documenting his adventures as a hobby. When some of his personal travel videos caught the attention of the GoPro company, the New Zealand Tourism Board, and several news companies on TV, he started taking filming seriously as a career and has since been making waves on the film scene as a cinematographer, director, editor and writer. Derek's combination of powerful visuals, sublime storytelling and smart humor has been exploding on the Vancouver indie scene with other passionate individuals who have an intense desire to tell a great story.
