After his undergrad studies in Mechatronics Engineering, Rajesh saw the film Taxi Driver. Right that moment, something mysterious and inexplicable happened. He was so obsessed with the film that he ended up watching it four more times over the next one week. On a whim, Rajesh announced to his parents that he was no longer interested in Engineering and wanted to be a filmmaker instead. His parents laughed off this bizarre idea and immediately sent him packing to the US to pursue Masters in Industrial Engineering.
Working as a supply chain-planning consultant for many years, Rajesh kept his dream alive by attending part time workshops in film direction and screenwriting. Rajesh developed his sensibilities as a filmmaker by watching thousands of films in all languages. He aspires to create real cinema on the lines of his favorite filmmakers Yasujiro Ozu, Akira Kurosawa, Federico Fellini , Abbas Kiarostami, Satyajit Ray, Majid Majidi, Andrei Tarkovsky, Hou Hsiao Hsien and more recent favorites Hirokazu Kore-eda and Asghar Farhadi. After making several short films, he wrote and directed his debut feature, Flavor of Life, starring accomplished actors like Pepe Serna(Scarface), Erick Lopez(Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) and Roberto Sanchez(2 Fast 2 Furious). The film was selected into the 22nd Urbanworld Film Festival in NY, 25th San Diego Latino Film Festival and 24th San Antonio Film Festival.
He is developing his next feature script at Torino Film Lab, Turin, Italy through his production company Sun Temple Media.
