Kai Milla

Fashion designer and style influencer Kai Milla-Morris Born to an African-American/Native-American mother and father of African-American, Caucasian and Moroccan descend. The Washington DC native showed early signs as a skilled painter and visual artist. Her father who encouraged her to pursue her talent in fine arts and saved money to hire her a private teacher. Kai went on to studied fine arts at the Corcoran College of Art and design in Washington DC and later was hired as an art director, moving her to New York, NY only in her second year of college. After attending a John Galliano's collection for Dior Couture in 2003. Kai premiered her ready-to-wear collection in 2005 under her name at New York Fashion Week. The powerhouse designer quickly gained the respect of the fashion community worldwide with an eye for details, draping and intricate pleating. Milla became a household name in 2009 after being asked to design for the First Lady Michelle Obama. The First Lady first appears wearing a Kai Milla emerald green plunging v-neck chiffon dress in February 2009 which honored her husband Stevie Wonder, the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize at the White House. Kai's impeccable sense of style have labeled her " The Fashion Maven ". With an impressive modern it-girl A-listers such as Rihanna, Eva Mendes, Halle Berry, Oprah Winfrey, Salma Hayek and Olivia Wilde to name a few. Recognized as a style authority, the beautiful fashion designer with her amazingly high cheekbones and model like chiseled face has been featured in and served as an contributing writer to various fashion publication as vogue, Harper's Bazaar, O Magazine, WWD, Lucky amongst others. Kai moved to Los Angeles in 2000 after marrying music legend Stevie Wonder [ Stevland Morris ] in the Bahamas in July, 2000. They later re-married in Los Angeles September, 2001. They have two children together, sons Kailand, born September, 2001 and Mandla, born May, 2005. Other family members includes Chad Millard Morris and Kwame Morris. Once in Los Angeles, Kai began making a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Exercising her acting skills, business smarts, and acute intuition, she began networking and connecting business ventures with the industry top music and movie executives. Kai's first TV project ( 2009 ) with Lifetime Networks "House of Kai Milla".
