Biography

Thomas W. Brookins, Jr. is a Director, Writer and Digital Cinematographer who originated in New York and is currently residing in California. Best known for his work on award-winning documentaries, such as "Fire and Water", the film premiered at Newport Beach Film Festival in 2016, in which Thomas took home a festival honorary award for "Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking: Action and Sports, one of the most competitive sections to compete in, in the world. Also known for "Shadows of the Same Sun", in which Thomas won "Best Debut of a Director" at the 2010 New York International Film Festival. Thomas worked on the film "Living for 32" directed by Kevin Breslin, which was shortlisted for an Academy Award in 2011. Thomas' passion for his craft comes to life by building emotional and inspirational moving imagery. His commitment to finding the ideal situation, accentuated by perfect lighting, has earned him a reputation as a one-man production crew. Patience and determination are his trademarks. Thomas' passion transformed him from a barefoot child running through the streets of the south, to a sought-after film professional in New York City and California. He has had the privilege and honor of working with some of the most influential Directors in the industry. His inspiration for art and film stem from his own world travels and unique life experiences. Thomas continues to receive acclaim for his forward-thinking perspective and ability to reach across cultural boarders in his films. Currently Thomas is teamed up with Jamie Dolan to write the screenplay for Thomas's first Narrative Feature called "Beast Side", a true story taken place in Buffalo, New York.
