Tahirah was born in South London, England to a Pakistani mother and Jamaican father. She trained at The BRIT School for Performing Arts as well as Identity School of Acting where she studied Theatre.
As of October 2020, Tahirah can be seen as 'Miss Rebecca Jessel' in the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor created by Mike Flanagan. A follow-up to the American anthology supernatural horror drama series The Haunting of Hill House, the story is a gothic romance ghost story based on the stories of Henry James.
As well as starring in the hugely popular Netflix original feature, A Christmas Prince and its two sequels, Tahirah is well known in the UK for her television credits including the BBC comedy series The First Team opposite Will Arnett, and series regular roles in BBC dramas Waterloo Road and Casualty.
On the big screen, Tahirah can be seen in Ralph Fiennes' The Invisible Woman and Film 4's See Me alongside Academy Award winner Olivia Colman.
As well as her screen work, Tahirah's passion for theatre has been prevalent throughout her career, and is evident from her credits, which include the lead in the National Theatre's production of Moon on a Rainbow Shawl, and the Tricycle Theatre's production of Arabian Nights. In 2016, Tahirah also starred in the critically acclaimed 3-hander Firebird, which originated at Hampstead Theatre, and later transferred to Trafalgar Studios in the west end.
Tahirah currently resides in her hometown of London.
