The most exciting thing that happens in O'Fallon, Illinois, is the high school's Homecoming dance. Nevertheless, it was Matthew R.R. Morrese's home.
Small towns built this country, and he grew up in one. It was a somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Everybody knew everyone, and everything about them. He worked farmland before the sun came up, fed the chickens in the crisp morning air, and took ninety-degree turns down ancient dirt roads at high velocity with friends rolling around in the back. Every weekend, they'd go to the movies and lose themselves in science-fiction and fantasy worlds. Then, they'd lie out in the fields and watch the sunset, making plans to change the world. Unfortunately, daydreaming and stargazing only goes so far.
At nineteen, he knew who he was, but drove away from everything he had. His destination? Los Angeles. His goal? The classic Hollywood dream. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Digital Filmmaking and Video Production, and enjoyed every second of it. Then, he realized just how difficult the real world was outside of school.
After graduating, he moved five times in three months seeking a place to live and a way to support himself. He went from beach to field to mountain and back. Before he knew it, his car's speedometer read over 200,000 miles. Eventually, he settled in to full time employment coaching gymnastics. He teaches children how to fly - literally.
Since he was seven, he knew he could do the same - fly. His passions stem from imagination, and his enthusiasm for storytelling fuels him. He believes in wishing on a shooting star and dancing in the rain. He believes impossible is a word for things not yet done.
Will he ever write something that change's someone's life? Could a line of his dialogue send someone to the floor with uncontrollable laughter or move someone to tears? Can he maybe, just maybe, seed a bit of wonder in a growing child's development?
He hopes so. It's at least a worthy goal.
