Biography

Kim Garland was raised in Hell's Kitchen, NYC, of Puerto Rican descent, and grew up above her family's funeral home. She attended New York City public schools and was an avid reader throughout her childhood. Kim worked her way through college covering the night shift at her family's business and graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Creative Writing. She began her career in book publishing at Random House while continuing to write fiction. She studied screenwriting and digital video production at The New School University in New York and transitioned to the entertainment industry through her work in development at Braven Films. Kim has written and directed several films, including her award-winning Resurrection Trilogy, and has screened her work at film festivals and comic cons across the country. After relocating to Los Angeles, she was accepted into the prestigious The Black List / Women in Film Episodic Lab, which led to her writing for television.
