Biography

Kathy Douglas is a nationally recognized nurse leader, filmmaker and entrepreneur. She appeared on the cover of Nurse Leader magazine in 2014 as Leader to Honor. She has been on the executive team of several start-up companies in health care technology with a focus on the health care workforce. She served on the editorial board of Nursing Economics magazine and founded the not-for-profit On Nursing Excellence. In 2014, she left that all behind to focus full time on film making. Kathy is Co-Founder of Wise Women Circles, a woman owned and operated inspirational projects company. She directed the internationally distributed film NURSES If Florence Could See Us Now, a tribute to the nursing profession. She also wrote and directed The Song Within Sedona (previously Wise Women of Sedona) which explores the inherent wisdom of women and communities. Both films are distributed by First Run Features. Kathy is a registered nurse (RN), holds a Masters Degree in Health Administration from UCSF and is a graduate of Stanford University Business School, Executive Program. She credits her film making abilities to knowing the Nursing Process; observe, assess, plan, act, evaluate, and then, do it all over again.
