Marcus Kyd

Biography

Marcus Kyd is an actor, director, and musician, born in Washington, DC as Marc Anthony Nelson. He earned his BFA in Acting from Emerson College in Boston, and an MFA in Classical Acting from the Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting at the George Washington University. In 2004 He co-founded Taffety Punk Theatre Company with Erin F. Mitchell, Lise Bruneau, Amanda MacKaye and Chris Marino. His stage credits include The Folger Theatre, Arena Stage, Center Stage, The Kennedy Center, Round House Theatre, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Metro Stage, Happenstance Theater, Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, Anti-Social Music's "The Nitrate Hymnal" (a mixed media opera); and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and many more. Original works and collaborations he has directed include the dance plays "suicide.chat.room", and "Enter Ophelia, distracted" with Kimberly Gilbert, and a very loud adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Rape of Lucrece." In the 90s and early 00s, he sang and played guitar in the The Most Secret Method.
