Marcus is a New Zealand-based actor living on the North Island. Born and raised in the U.S. to Kiwi parents, he was granted New Zealand citizenship in May of 2017, then emigrated in October of that same year.
He began acting in Reno, Nevada, appearing in stage plays and musicals, then progressed into shooting local commercials and training videos for the casino industry. He also shot role playing videos for legal firms, portraying prosecutors, defense attorneys, plaintiffs and defendants. In August of 2000, he left Reno and moved north to Seattle, Washington.
In 2001, he wrote and performed a one-man show about the young Orson Welles and the struggle for control over his 2nd major film, THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS. The original title of the play was "Lost Eden - An Evening With Orson Welles".
Premiering at the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival that spring, it was seen by writer and director Jeff Meyers, who was scouting potential projects for Oregon-based media production company StageDirect. In the fall of 2001, StageDirect oversaw media conversion of the show, now titled THE MAGNIFICENT WELLES, and VHS/DVDs were released for sale in early 2002. It was profiled in Movie Maker magazine, and favorably reviewed by Apollo Movie Guide, Films in Review, Library Journal, and Booklist, among others. Three years after release, it was solicited for inclusion as part of the 2005 International Film Festival in Locarno, Switzerland. Stefan Droessler, Head of the Munich Film Museum at the time, wrote that he was overseeing a retrospective of Welles's own work, along with films about the man and his career, as part of the festival. He wrote "We are considering to include THE MAGNIFICENT WELLES in the program. It's not a real film like the other titles in our program (like RKO 281 or CRADLE WILL ROCK) but it is so well produced and such a good performance that we would like to do an exception."
