Jorge Rubiera

Biography

Jorge Rubiera is a Cuban-American filmmaker. Rubiera initially got his start as a musician, recording and touring with the bands Animal Tropical, Down Home Southernaires, Pygmy, Awesome New Republic and Plains. After studying photography and screenwriting, and a brief stint at art school, he returned home to produce his first feature, Meniscus. In 2011 he produced the short film Birdwatchers for Borscht film festival. Over the past decade, with frequent collaborators Hammer and Nail Prod. and Common Machine he has served as cinematographer and editor on many documentaries including the Emmy award winning Hecho a Mano, and the ESPN 30 for 30 The Guerrilla Fighter.
