Volker Schmitt made first steps telling stories in the theater scene in Cologne - followed by two years as an assistant director at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. Theatre production and adaptation of W.S. Burroughs' Naked Lunch (Cut-up!). At Hamburg University he studied Anglistics and German philology focusing on literature, theater- and film theory. Bachelor of Arts in Film Making in Berlin/London. His short film "Nowherenow" was screened on international film festivals - winning the SAE Alumni Award 2010 for Best Short Film. He concluded his film studies at the University of fine Arts Hamburg (HFBK) in 2011. "Schattenlinie" is his graduating film.
