Francesco Carignani di Novoli was born in Naples, Italy. In 2006 he earned a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies with a final thesis in Documentary Filmmaking on the famous British documentary director Humphrey Jennings. The following year he worked for the University as assistant professor, always, in Documentary Filmmaking with the Italian documentary director Professor Carlo Alberto Pinelli. In Naples he had the opportunity to study screen-writing under several directors, among them, the future Oscar winner, the Italian director Paolo Sorrentino. After having worked in Milan and Rome as assistant on many international feature movie and commercials sets, he moved to Los Angeles in 2009 to attend to the University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts. In Los Angeles he had the opportunity to work with important studios in the pre-production field. Back to Italy since 2010, he took part in the production of several documentary films and after a year, he moved to Paris, to continue working on documentaries. He is currently working in Italy again since 2012 but he travels a lot around the world for pleasure and work.
