Biography

An actress of English stage and early cinema - films lost. Prominent member of Henry Baynton's Shakespearean company who played the leading role in productions around Britain before the appearance of the RSC. Performed leading roles in various other London west end and touring productions in Ivor Novello's Company and, earlier, Harry Hanson's Repertory Company. At an early age she was at Leeds College of Art in the newly formed Sculpture School in 1919 where she was a contemporary of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Later in life Dolores Judson took sculpture commissions including those by Pat Phoenix (Patricia Phoenix * UK Granada TV's Coronation Street) and Sir Peter Hall CBE.
