Following many years of professional experience in photography Giuseppe Aquino began his career in film direction with the Italian television series 'Strike' in 1996. The series, devoted to fashion, music and entertainment, was written by Aquino and journalist Lidia Angiulli and broadcast on the national television channel Cinquestelle. Over the following years, Aquino directed a number of short, experimental films, the most notable of which are 'Tsunami' (2009), selected for the final of the Milan Film Festival and Marbella Film Festival, and 'Equilibri' (2008) which reached the final selection board at the 11th edition of the Naples Film Festival. More recently, Aquino has been widely recognised for his work with the acclaimed Italian actor Carlo delle Piane (Golden Lion 1996, Venice Film Festival) for whom he wrote and directed the theatre performances 'Io, Anna e Napoli' (2010-11), 'Chiaro come il Cielo' (2011) and 'Il bello del cinema italiano' (2013). Aquino's partnership with delle Piane also led him to direct the documentary film attached to the biographical novel by Massimo Consorti: 'Signore e Signori Carlo delle Piane'.
