Biography

Professionally trained in screen acting, stunts, and weapon use, Mia Ruiz is a Texas native working worldwide as an actor and producer. Her recent screen credits include roles in Texas-made films as a strong immigrant mother that will stop at nothing to give her children the best life a woman directed, Jenny Waldo featured film ACID TEST, the saboteur of a family crime business in the Jeremiah Joe Ocañas film B.O.O.S.T. A neurologist in Shedrick Cortez film JOY COMES IN THE MORNING. She's also in the midst of producing a drama/action short film DEATH WEARS A YOUNG FACE, as well, a dramedy film called 12 REASONS WHY MEN CHEAT, In the wake of a wedding catastrophe, a man and a woman sit amongst the chaos, discussing what women want to know most. Mia trained in stunts and stage combat with Eugene Solfanelli, Geo Corvova, Mark Chavarria, and Jackson Burns. She's proficient in wielding sticks, swords, and knives, as well as handling fight choreography, falling from stairs, jumping through windows, and precision driving. Also, Mia is trained in hand gun and rifle use, including glocks, revolvers, shotguns, and the AK-15, thanks to Nolan & The Arms Room in Texas. She's studied acting with a variety of industry professionals in New York, including acting, marks, scene study, monologues with Tom Todoroff and voiceover work with Elena Lee, Susan Cameron, and masks with Miriam Silverman. In LA, she studied acting with Tom Logan, and in Texas she has studied film acting with Deke Anderson, John Lansch, and Gary Chason and commercial acting with Eleese Lester. Before moving west, Mia worked in Texas on the sci-fi thriller TURNING THE HANDS OF TIME, developed as a pilot project for a prominent cable network. Directed by Gary Chason, Mia played a detective's wife whose life is in danger when she finds a suspicious package at work. Other film work includes the killer demon in the Joe Grisaffi horror short DON'T LOOK IN THE ATTIC, the role of a clerical worker in Dennis Devine's horror comedy feature FAT PLANET. Including interviewing artist, hosting many music shows and The Redneck Archaeologist, a Texas history show. Lean and athletic, Mia grew up highly involved in a variety of team sports, including basketball, softball, and soccer. Her standout sport was track and she remains active as a spinner today. Born in McAllen, Texas and raised through out Houston areas by a single parent, being the youngest of 8 siblings, she also belongs to SWAMP, a community that helps the film Texas industry to grow. Mia enjoys to collaborate with others to use the medium of film as a tool to change and/or the opportunity to send a positive message to the world.
