Renato Giugliano is a film director and author. Born in South Italy in 1977, he graduated in "Economy of Tourism" and then moved to Rome in order to study script writing and film direction; in 2004 he moved to the central Italian city of Bologna where he studied and worked with Ermanno Olmi (ipotesICinema, Terra Madre) and he collaborated with several European Productions (Horizons, BBC, Nukleus Film, Cineteca di Bologna); Some of the different positions he has held include: first assistant director, camera operator and video editor.
In 2010 he made his first documentary film, COOPERANTI, and in 2011 with A GREAT MACEDONIAN he won several awards and was widely celebrated by film critics both in Italy and abroad. Afterwards, he was involved in the production of the biographical documentary film about the life of the Senator Giovanni Bersani and he directed social advertisements and short films.
In 2014, with two other authors, he entered "Are You Series?", the contest announced by the Milano Film Festival and by Banca Prossima, that allow him to create and produce the first season of the web series entitled "Status", for which Renato wrote the script and directed 3 episodes and that won many prestigious international awards, among which the Best Photography Award at the San Francisco Web Fest, and the Best Director Award at the Roma Web Fest.
At the moment, Renato is starting the production of his first feature film about the issues of diversity and migration in the Mediterranean.
