John ''Jack'' O'Brien

Biography

John "Jack" O'Brien got his start in television as a page for the Late Show with David Letterman. He was later promoted to audience coordinator and wrote jokes for Dave's monologue. Jack even wrote New Jersey governor Chris Christie's favorite fat joke about himself. After five years as audience coordinator and freelance writer, Jack left the Late Show and moved to Los Angeles, but continued to submit jokes until Letterman's retirement. Once in Los Angeles, Jack joined the production staff of the sitcoms The McCarthys and Truth Be Told, before landing on Man With A Plan, where he would move up from writers assistant to staff writer and write an episode based on his own childhood experiences. In the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jack took a step back to script coordinator to work on B Positive, a new sitcom from Chuck Lorre. But he quickly returned to being a writer, penning an episode of B Positive season one, and joining the writing staff for season two.
