Pow! Biff! Bam! With the turn of the first page, J. Lee Williams fell in love with comic books, his favorite creative source for inspiration. He loved them so much that two of his six companies revolved around them: business number two was a comic book store with a small studio in the back for him to draw and develop his creative ideas; while naturally his fourth company would involve actually producing his own comic book series, Rotogin, for Image Comics that gained fans internationally.
But Zoink! It doesn't end there. An entrepreneur since the age of 18, with a passion for storytelling, J. Lee constantly reinvented his own story. His flash animation studio, business number three, put him at the forefront of flash animation at the early stages of it's development catching the attention of powerhouses like Nike, Hasbro and Time Warner.
Then Wham! He set up a gaming and multimedia company that sadly perished. Not one to lie down after a punch, J. Lee partnered with two other intricate individuals to form 1188 Films. And BLAM! They're creating cutting edge visual magic for clients including MuchMusic, MTV, Bell Media, Puma Canada and Red Bull.
J. Lee is an award-winning VFX director with many alter egos: illustrator, comic book artist, animator, flash developer, VFX director, film producer and his main role as commercial director. His career has allowed him to touch some of his favorite brands such as Coca-Cola, Disney, Pixar, Adidas, Nike, Puma, The Marvel Universe, Angry Birds and Transformers.
He has directed dozens of toy commercials, which he would say helps him keep in touch with that young boy who fell in love with comic books all those companies ago.
