J. Eugene Rich (born Jerome Eugene Richardson) in Savannah, GA. At a very young age, performing arts found a place in his heart and has forever been with him.
His family relocated from Savannah to Atlanta in 1995. Years later, he would find himself performing in local community theaters before being bit by the film bug. During the spring of 2003, while looking for employment, J Eugene's mother came across an article in the AJC newspaper seeking background extras to be a part of the feature film, "The Fighting Temptations", starring Beyonce Knowles and Cuba Gooding, Jr.
This would be the catalyst to motivate him to move forward and seek opportunities outside of the Atlanta area due to the lack of film and television production during that particular time. April of 2003, J Eugene's life would change drastically due to the sudden and unexpected death of his beloved mother. Two months later, he found himself moving to the big city of L.A. on a whim with a few days notice.
Immediately, he hit the ground running, signed up with Central Casting and Sande Alessi Casting to begin working as a background actor full time on shows such as Days of Our Lives, CSI Miami, One On One and many many more. But his big break would come when he garnered a featured background role on the set of The Terminal, starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta Jones. This would eventually make him eligible to join the SAG union.
From there J. Eugene would go on to work as an intern PA on Dr. Phil season 5 and be employed as a transcriber. Later on, he would also work as a casting director assistant for Cedric The Entertainer's directorial debut, Dance Fu, starring Kel Mitchell. During his stint at Dr. Phil, he drummed up his own talk show and game show content garnering a small fan base.
To date, Mr. Rich has self produced his own body of work as well as collaborated with others in the industry.
