Biography

A lifelong writer, Schrader grew up in Pleasant Hill, California - a small suburb outside of Oakland and San Francisco. He began writing feature scripts at age fifteen. After three years of majoring at University of California: Santa Barbara in Film & Media Studies, he became a professional screenwriter at the age of twenty, writing a spec horror film tentatively titled "Shutter" for a subsidiary production company of Maverick Films. Mentored by Allison Anders and Tom Lazarus at UCSB, Schrader became co-president of the school's Screenwriter's Co-Op, organizing screen writing seminars with writers including Gary Ross (Big (1988), Seabiscuit (2003), Pleasantville (1998)), Academy Award Winner Scott Frank (Get Shorty (1995), Out of Sight (1998), Minority Report (2002)), Bob Gale (Back to the Future (1985)), Jeff Nathanson (Rush Hour 2 (2001), Catch Me If You Can (2002)). Turning down acceptance to a graduate screen writing program at Chapman University, Schrader and his partner, Jordan Harris, decided to raise money and make their first feature film, Fever Night aka Band of Satanic Outsiders. He continues to write and direct feature films and spec scripts while shooting and editing for clients like US Soccer, Break.com, Fox Digital Studios, Aristar Entertainment, and his own company, Bad People Motion Pictures.
