Austin C. Kyle

Biography

Austin C. Kyle was born around 1893, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Kyle of Brooklyn, New York. Kyle, who had at one time been a stock player with one of Holbrook Blinn's repertory companies, worked for the Metro Film Company where he earned the nicknames "Daredevil Jack" and "Daredevil Austin" for the hazardous roles he would take. Austin C. Kyle joined the Twenty-second Howitzer Battery of the Canadian Field Artillery in February of 1916. He was severely wounded that April and was unable to rejoin his regiment until October 3rd. A little over a month later he was killed in action during the Battle of the Somme.
