Rohan Mapuskar

Rohan belongs from a small village called Shrivardhan in Raigad, with a degree in commerce. His brother inspired him to make a mark in the Indian film industry . He started his career as an assistant director to Rajkumar Hirani for the movie Lage Raho Munna Bhai and 3 idiots. He was involved in the casting of 3 idiots where his career as a casting director took off. He believes in casting a character and not an actor for his movies and that's what makes him one of the most successful casting director's in the film industry with films like 3 idiots, Ferrari Ki Sawari, Sachin- A billion Dreams, Ventilator,Breathe (TV Series) (8 episodes), Thackeray, ,Kaale Dhande (TV Series) (8 episodes), Panipat, Mumbai Saga and many more under his credits for casting. Direction has always been his passion, He's worked as an associate director for Ventilator with the national award winner director Mr. Rajesh Mapuskar. He's now all set to give wings to his directional dreams by making a debut as a director. Early life and education Rohan Mapuskar was born on 16th October 1983 in Shrivardhan, a village in coastal Maharashtra. He was born into a joint family, to Ramankant Shankar Mapuskar and Ranjita Ramakant Mapuskar. He studied at Shrivardhan till grade 4 followed by Srivardhan High School till Grade 10 and then joined Gokhale school of Education, Science and Commerce. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Mapuskar had been always mischievous as a kid and keen on learning new things. His interest in Cinema was inspired from his first cousin in the family and renowned film director Rajesh Mapuskar. Career After college Mapuskar was keen in trying his luck in the industry. His parent weren't supportive initially, which left him with no choice than to leave home. He borrowed some Amount from his mother and ran away to the city of dream, Mumbai. His brother Rajesh Mapuskar introduced him to the media world in Mumbai. In 2005, he started his career as assistant director on famous album Chanda ki Doli after which he joined Vinod Chopra Films and did his first feature film Lage Raho Munna Bhai as Assistant directed by Rajkumar Hirani. It was then, when his family became supportive for his career after seeing his name in the credit list. Rohan got an opportunity to do casting for an ad film directed by Rajkumar Hirani. He was so impressed with his work that assigned him to work as a Casting Director in 3 Idiots and that's how he entered into casting direction and since then there is no looking back. Mapuskar has extensively worked as Assistant Director, Associate Director and Casting director in the industry and worked on over 150 ads. He recently produced a play Kanupriya based on a book written by Dharamveer Bharti and directed by Mitali Joshi. He is all set to start his directorial debut, a Marathi regional film that will go on floor in 2020. Mapuskar has also launched his own Casting Company, as Rohan Mapuskar Casting.
