Parminder Sandhu

Parminder Kaur Sandhu (known as Parminder Sandhu) was a Punjabi folk singer and actress. She started singing at very young age of 7. Her father was also a fond of music, he always motivated her. She learned music from Ustad Bakir Hussain of Patiala Gharana. She recorded many solo and duet songs with famous singers like Jaswant Sandila, Didar Sandhu, Kuldeep Manak, Karnail Gill, Surinder Shinda, Sital Singh Sital and many others. In early 1990s, she got fame from her solo album 'Rangpur Rang Laun Waliye'. As an actress, she is known for her work in movies like 'Yaran Naal Baharan' (1991), 'Jatt Jeona Mour' (1991) and 'Pratigya' (1995). She did a live performance in the movie 'Sir Dhad Di Baazi (1995). She died on 5 February 2011 owing to cancer at the age of 52 years.
