Biography

Who knew that playing the White Rabbit in Alice In Wonderland during an elementary school play would start the acting adventures of actress Marlena Neal. Born and raised in Baltimore, Marlena consistently auditions in New York, Virginia, Washington DC and Annapolis for roles in film and TV. Even though obstacles like scheduling issues, being a single parent, and small amount of roles for African American women can be a hard pill to swallow, Marlena makes it work. Marlena has done work in independent films like Four Sunday's In Spring, Breaking Down, Seeking Closure, Heaven Burns, Banana Pudding, The Henchman's War, Raven's Cravings, You're Dead! , Hood Dreams and BadAss Assassins. While being happy with her work in independent films, Marlena has done work as an extra in big budget films like Below The Beltway, Step Up 2, and Step Up 3D. She also had roles in the short films Tooth N Nail, Saul's Groove and Recoil. Marlena played the role of Jazzman Sumners in the web series Life After Lisa and Jenna Bradshaw in the television series Anacostia. More work in independent films is the current goal that Marlena has set for herself. Marlena would like Baltimore City to make it more affordable for independent film companies to do work in the city. Also more advertising of our actors, actresses and our city so it will draw more attention and create a buzz is what she feels is lacking in Baltimore City right now. To help her chase her dream of acting, Marlena constantly receives encouragement and support from her family. Taking acting classes and receiving training here in Baltimore has allowed Marlena that chance to network, grow as an actress and stay humble about her craft. Like her role model Queen Latifah, actress Marlena Neal is always searching for the next best project in film.
