Shaun Koren

Biography

Shaun Koren is the oldest of two brothers, born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Lived an average life. Was enrolled in many programs, and participated in many sports. At the age of seven, started his martial arts training. Acheived a black belt in Karate at the age of fifteen, as well as years of Judo under his belt. In 1996, started to train in Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, Kickboxing, Grappling, Filipino Martial arts under renowned Edmonton instructor Master Brad Murphy. Through Master Murphy, he met and trained with different instructors from around the continent such as the late Sigung Larry Hartsell, and Master Ron Kosakowski. In his early twenties, also competed briefly in kick boxing, MMA, and grappling matches until he left to pursue his acting career. Also at the age of 21, Shaun Koren also got into acting. Taking classes and programs, was introduced to talent agent Elisabeth Ebbels. Through experience, he got small work in mostly independent and education films. In 2002, Shaun enrolled in the Motion Picture Arts Program at Red Deer College majoring in acting. Upon completion of the program, he returned back to Edmonton and continued perfecting his craft. In 2008, he was cast as Const. Edgar "Spike" Millen in Michael Jorgensons' "The Hunt For The Mad Trapper" documentary film that aired on the Discovery Channel. The same year started work on Idiom Films' "Ordinary Decent Criminal". Realizing another passion in 2007, took his Firefighting 1001's at Fire Etc. At this time, Shaun is still employed in the fire service. With his open schedule, still pursues his acting career as well as continuing his life's journey in martial arts.
