Saturnin Kondratiew is an award-winning writer/director of film projects through his Vancouver-based production company.
He was born in Warsaw, Poland. At the age of 9 he immigrated to Canada with his grandmother in order to join his parents.
In his teens he was very involved in his schools AV club and spent most of his time filming and editing during and after school. He has been known to get into some hot water for interrupting other classes while filming on school grounds.
In his mid 20s, he started to get involved in the motorcycle scene. He saw an opportunity to make a documentary on the extreme motorcycle stunt culture and began filming in the early 2000s. He was inspired by Drew Stone a director from New York who at the time revolutionized the genre. Saturnin saw his films and wanted to expand on his ideas even further.
First film Throttle Trauma took 3 years to make, It was an invaluable experience for the first time documentary director. The film gathered some local momentum and gave the director the push he needed to consider making another film, further dealing with the constantly changing motorcycle stunt culture.
After the successful release of Throttle Trauma 1 in 2006, he began writing Throttle Trauma 2. This time around he would cover a small part of the United States stunt scene while still keeping focus on Canadian riders.
Throttle Trauma 2: Street Kings was released in 2008 to critical acclaim, it also got recognized by winning two xtremey awards in 2009. Best motorcycle freestyle video and best rider in a motorcycle freestyle video( Nick Apex).
Throttle Trauma 2 was supposed to be the last documentary that covered the motorcycle stunt culture. After taking one year off, the production for Throttle Trauma 3 started, Throttle Trauma 3 will be the last chapter in this genre and it will cover new ground that has not yet been exposed to the public.
