Biography

Mu Tiezhu was a Chinese basketball player and coach. He was a main force behind China's championship runs at Asian Games and Asian Basketball Championships in the 1970s and 1980s but left the national team before China appeared in the Olympic games. At 2.28cm (7 feet 5.75 inches) His height was not only an advantage on the court but also noted by movie directors. After retiring as a player in 1987, he acted in 4 comedy movies between 1988 and 1991. He was on Bayi Basketball Team's coaching staff but was forced to retire in 2000 due to heart problem. He died of heart attack on September 14, 2008 in Beijing.
