Marlisa was born and bred in sunny South Africa to a Spanish mother and South African father of French Huguenots descent hence the surname, 'Doubell'. Marlisa holds a BA degree in Psychology and English Literature. In 2000, Marlisa trained as an actor at the Academy of Live & Recorded Arts, London. Following graduation, she lived and work in the film and theatre industry in London for several years. In 2005 she acquired her UK 'Qualified Teacher Status' specializing in Drama & English. In 2006, Marlisa returned home to start her family in Cape Town, South Africa. Marlisa worked in the African film industry and managed a boutique theatre company in Cape Town for over 10 years. In 2017 she received several international awards for her short film 'Just a Car'. In 2020, Marlisa relocated to London with her family and continues to enjoy work in the industry between London and Cape Town. Marlisa continues her passion for teaching drama both within the school system and privately.
