Herbie Smith was born September 10, 1955 in Vienna, Austria. First he wanted to study filmmaking but after watching the "Woodstock" movie in the cinemas, especially the appearance of Jimi Hendrix, he decided to become a musician. His bands were Metzlutzka's Erben, Latveria and since 1987 the Herbie Smith Department. Jazzrock, Blues, Rock, Classic and Jimi-Hendrix Coverversions - there were no musical limits for Herbie. His friendship to Filmmaker Wolf Morrison aka Robert Tarantino led to his role as the bad guy Rico Verelli in Morrison's directing debut "Wild Rebel" (2008).
