John E. Fry

John is a highly experienced professional freelance Steadicam Owner Operator & Lighting Cameraman working mainly in feature film, broadcast television, multi-camera OB production and high level corporate videos. Born in Wiltshire John completed A levels at Bishop Wordsworths Grammar School, and went on to gain an HND in Film & TV Production at Salisbury College, and then a BA (hons) degree in the subject from Bournemouth University. During this time John was also expanding his skills in video production, particularly outside broadcasting & multi-camera, as well as stills photography through assignments with the Mail on Sunday, regular feature photos in Wiltshire Life magazine and shooting weddings and portraits. Through Steadicam he has experience in almost every production environment, from music videos, studio shooting, aerial camera work, & more. John also teaches Steadicam on the NFTV School course every year. John is based in the South of England, but often works further afield and abroad. Recent trips have included Monaco, Spain, Italy, Germany, Hollywood, and even Thailand. Steadicams aside, John also owns a wide assortment of broadcast equipment, including 2/3" broadcast HD cameras, lenses, matte boxes, lighting, monitoring, sound & multi-camera kit. John is a Scout leader & can drive, swim, ski (with a camera) and ride a horse.
