Sam Shore is a New Zealand-based screenwriter and producer with a prolific career in international series. He is the creator and Executive Producer of the crime thriller series The Darkness for CBS International Studios starring Lena Olin with Lasse Hallstrom directing. The series has sold to numerous territories around the world, including all English language markets.
He was part of the key creative team behind the BAFTA-nominated series After the Party (Lingo Pictures) and is currently developing an original series with a US streamer, serving as Showrunner and Executive Producer.
Sam has run multiple international writers' rooms including the first season of the YA sci-fi series Mystic (CBBC). His writing credits include Hulu, Acorn TV, and the BBC, spanning comedy, drama, crime, sci-fi, YA, and high-concept book adaptations.
Previous development includes an original project with Sister (Chernobyl, Black Doves), working alongside Jane Featherstone and Neil Cross, a screen adaptation for Warner Bros. NZ and Little Island (Patrick Melrose) and a sci-fi adaptation for Krasnoff/Foster Productions (Community).
Sam has also worked as a finalist judge for the Sir Peter Ustinov Award for Scriptwriting from the International Emmys and in addition to screenwriting, spent many years working with at-risk youth and created and led an initiative to promote gay rights in New Zealand. For this work, he received a finalist position in the 2013 Young New Zealander of the Year Awards, one of New Zealand's highest accolades.
Sam lives in Auckland with his husband and their two exceptionally greedy dogs and is represented by Fictional Entity and Nelson Davis Law in Los Angeles.
